KABA was like my son; his death is heartbreaking – Paul Afoko

Suspended National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Awentami Afoko has stated that the death of Kwadwo Asare Boffour Acheampong (KABA) whom he described as a son has left many heartbroken.

According to him, he and KABA grew very close following their first encounter which was at an interview on his Ekosii Sen show on Asempa FM and his death has caused him much pain.

“This is the same building KABA interviewed me for the first time. Nana Yaa Brefo introduced me to him. In that interview I felt he was a very hostile man. The next person to interview was Hon Nana Akomea and the questions he asked made me believe he did a very balanced job, very incisive. My respect for him increased that day to the extent he came to my house and we met a number of times elsewhere. I took him as my son”, he revealed.

KABA died last Saturday at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after being rushed there following a short illness.

Sharing his memories of KABA in an interview on Adom FM, Mr Afoko revealed that he initially thought the report was one of the usual social media hoaxes and he tried to verify by sending a Whatsapp message to KABA’s phone but till date it is yet to be delivered.

He expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and the Multimedia Group and prayed that the deceased will have peace in heaven.

“We who are left behind will have to take care of what he has left behind, his wife and daughter and chart the path he followed by being incisive and objective”, he said.
