Kaasi community construct additional school block

Kumasi, Jan 31, GNA – The Kaasi community in Kumasi is constructing an additional block of 10 classrooms for the primary school to absorb the shift system.

The GH=A270,000-block initiated by the assemblyman, in collaboration with the chiefs and elders, is being funded through voluntary contributions from individuals and churches. Mr Charles Oduro Acheampong, the assemblyman for Kaasi, who conducted the Ghana News Agency round the project site, appealed to corporate bodies, particularly, timber firms operating in the area, as well as the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to aid the project with building materials to enable it to be completed on time. He called for the extension of the school feeding programme to the community.

On sanitation, the assemblyman said three public places of convenience had been rehabilitated at the cost of GH=A22,000 while heaps of refuse had been cleared.

Mr Acheampong said since the formation of a Neighbourhood Watch Committee in the community, criminal activities, especially wee-smoking had reduced.

He called on every household to pay their GH=A24.00-levy per month to support the committee in terms of logistics and allowances to enable it operate effectively. The assemblyman warned people washing vehicles on the streets to desist from the practice. 31 Jan. 08
