K.T. Hammond calls for support for DCE

Brofoyedru (Ash), Nov 30, GNA – Mr K.T. Hammond, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi-Asokwa and Deputy Minister of Energy, has called on the communities in the constituency to offer their support to Mr Kwabena Ameyaw to succeed in his administration as the first District Chief Executive (DCE) for the new Adansi North district.

The MP made the call when he joined the DCE in his familiarization tour of communities in the district at the weekend. The tour took them to Brofoyedru, New and Old Atatam, Bodwesango and Asokwa.

Mr Hammond said Mr Ameyaw was capable of leading the new district to realize the needed development and that, what was left was for the communities to support him in his administration.

“Mr Ameyaw will work for the development of Adansi North and that you have to pray for him and also support him spiritually”, the Deputy Minister said.

Mr Hammond urged the communities to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enable them to assess quality health care.

The DCE gave the assurance that government was doing everything possible to improve the economy of the country and therefore appealed to Ghanaians to exercise patience and also work hard to improve their lot. Mr Ameyaw commended the government for the manner it was supporting the development of the new district.

He expressed regret about the numerous chieftaincy problems in the area and appealed to the Adansi Traditional Council to act fast to address them since the situation could retard development.

Mr Isaac Kofi Bimpong, the District Director of Education who was with the DCE’s entourage, reminded parents that they still had responsibilities to perform towards the education of their children and wards despite the introduction of the capitation grant.

The Krontihene of Brofoyedru, Nana Fredua Agyemang, later decorated Mr Hammond with an honorary title of ‘Akyempimhene’ under the stool name Nana Hemeng II for his exceptional contribution towards the development of the town.
