Juveniles charged for allegedly stealing GT cables

Hohoe, June 4, GNA- Two minors (names withheld) have appeared before a family tribunal of the Hohoe magistrates’ court charged with stealing a quantity of cables valued at Gh¢2000, belonging to Ghana Telecom (GT) company.

The Junior High school student and his accomplice, a mason apprentice, all residents of Hohoe, pleaded guilty to stealing and were remanded to the custody of their parents to reappear on June 12 this year.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Mr Emmanuel Kpodo told the tribunal, chaired by Ms Janet Awo Bakudie that, a witness in the case spotted the two teenagers carrying a loaded fertilizer sack at about 0135 hours on March 21 this year, and suspected them to be thieves. He said the witness with the assistance of other people apprehended the minors and a search of the sack revealed cable wires belonging to GT.

Inspector Kpodo said they were handed over to the police and after investigations, were charged with the offence.
