Justify your inclusion – Akufo-Addo to dep. ministers

President Akufo-Addo has tasked his newly sworn in deputy ministers to work hard to justify their selection as officers of his government.

Administering the oath of secrecy to the first 25 of the 50 deputy ministers, who will serve in his government at the banquet hall, on Wednesday, April 12, the president said: “Deputy ministers of state, you are aware of the controversies surrounding your appointments; several unpalatable words have been used to describe you…obscene, job for the boys among others.

“These criticisms impose a clear obligation on you to justify your selection especially the fact that you know that there are many of your peers in the house who have not been selected even though they have similar claims of competence”.

The President also told the deputy ministers that he has a special interest in their development and success because their swearing in coincides with the 20th anniversary of his marriage to the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo.

“I’m equally involved in your success for your success so vindicates me,” he noted.
