The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSSAG) has issued a six-day ultimatum to government to release funds for the payment of outstanding allowances due it, failing which it would embark on an industrial action.
According to a statement from the association, its leadership has been under pressure as a result of the non-payment of their allowances.
The association said it had been assured of the implementation of consolidated salaries and that once the consolidated salaries were paid, the payment of benefits or allowances due staff would be a thing of the past, however that assurance has not been fulfilled.
JUSSAG said the delay had plunged its members into unbearable and untold hardship. “Our members nationwide are extremely constrained economically as a result of the delay,” it noted.
JUSSAG has, therefore, urged government to pay all outstanding allowances due it whilst efforts are made to have the consolidated salaries implemented.
The association cautioned that failure of government to pay the allowances on or before Wednesday 26 April shall compel them to “advise” themselves.
