Junior nurses at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital resumed work after an almost three weeks strike but those at the district hospitals are yet to go back to the wards.
The nurses agreed to resume work after a meeting with their representatives last Friday.
Mr. Fred Dugbazah, Public Relations Officer of the Hospital, said the nurses reported to work as early as 0700 hours this morning. He said, some of the nurses came to work in mufti and serious work has begun at the various wards except the emergency, where work is expected to start on Tuesday.
A visit to the wards saw the nurses at post with the Out Patients Department opened.
At the Ridge Hospital, the whole place was empty with the junior nurses in their mufti hanging around. Some of the nurses stated that they have not received their allowance yet and are still waiting for it. They explained it has come to their notice that they have not been given the same amount as their colleagues at Korle-Bu though they at Ridge have heavier schedules than those at Korle-Bu.
The story was not different at the Adabraka Polyclinic but the junior nurses, who were said to have reported in their mufti, were not there to comment.
