The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has threatened to embark on strike as the country prepares for the Supreme Court verdict in the election petition case.
If nothing is done about the situation, it is most likely to grind the administration of justice to a halt as the judicial service staff, including court clerks, complement the effort of judges and magistrates to dispense justice.
It is also likely to affect the judgment of the landmark election petition case which will be delivered on August 29.
In an interview with XYZ News, Francis Brakwah, IMC-Chairman of JUSAG gave the government August 27 to pay their allowances or they would start their strike.
According to him, they are demanding payment of unpaid fuel allowances, cloth allowances among other arrears.
The allowances according to them have been outstanding since 2012, and also allowances for 2013 are still unpaid.
The deadline by JUSAG for their allowances to be paid is just two days ahead of the Supreme Court verdict in the election petition case.
