Judicial Service staff commended for high output

Koforidua, Dec 24, GNA – Mr Justice Francis Korbieh, the Supervising High Court Judge of the Eastern Region, has commended the staff of the Judicial Service in the region for the improvement in their output this year.

He said members of staff have risen to the challenge, especially that that promoted the advancement of good governance and the democratic process in the country.

Mr Justice Korbieh who was speaking at a Judicial Service Staff get-together at Koforidua, asked all levels of staff not to relax in their performance and if possible, improve upon it in the coming years. The president of the Eastern Regional branch of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Mr Samuel Asante-Ansong, said the work of magistrates was daunting since it was at the Magistrate Court that most cases affecting the ordinary people such as petty debts, assaults, boundary disputes, stealing cases were resolved.

He expressed regret that most lawyers refused to accept appointments as magistrates and therefore asked the Judicial Service to improve the remuneration of the magistrates.
