The Judicial Committee of the Central Regional House of Chiefs has successfully settled 12 chieftaincy disputes brought to the House this year.
Out of the number, three were petitions six were arbitrations and three appeals. Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, Abeadzehen and President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, made this known at the end of year general meeting of the House in Cape Coast.
The meeting, attended by all the paramount chiefs in the region, was also used to formally introduce the Paramount Chief of Atti Morkwa Traditional Area, Oseadeeyo Kwesi Kenni IV, who replaced the late Oseadeeyo Kwesi Kenni III.
A13-member Judicial Committee of the Atti Morkwa Traditional Council was also sworn into office by Mr Justice James Benson Benuyenah, Cape Coast Supervising High Court Judge.
He advised the members to take the oaths of office, allegiance and secrecy seriously to enable them to perform their duties without fear or favour.
Daasebre Ewusi said 23 chieftaincy disputes were pending before the Judicial Committee and commended it for its hard work.
He encouraged the committee to continue to abide by the principle of impartiality and neutrality in the settlement of disputes as this would help avert any chieftaincy clashes in the region.
Daasebre Ewusi commended the Ghana Police Service for ensuring peace in the region and expressed his gratitude to the standing, research and development committees of the House for their tremendous contribution to make the year a successful one.
He tasked the chiefs to continue to advise the youth to take their education seriously and urged the youth to be cautious during the Christmas festivities. Authorities from the PANAFEST Foundation, Road Safety Commission, Stool Lands Administration and Food and Drugs Authority were in the House to educate the traditional rulers on their programmes and activities.
