Judge commends Reporters’ dressing

Ho, Oct. 23, GNA – A Ho High-Court Judge, Mr Justice Richard Apaloo, on Wednesday commended a team of Court Reporters for their smart turn-out in Court describing their dressing as appropriate to the dignity of the Court.

“You all look very smart today, any special reason,” Mr Justice Apaloo, noted for being critical about how Reporters appear in his Court, asked.

He called for a corresponding accuracy in the reportage of proceedings in the Court.

That was when Mr Saviour Dzikunu, Counsel for respondents in a contempt case concerning the Awoamefia Stool now before the Judicial Committee of the Volta Region House of Chiefs, drew the Court’s attention to a publication in a recent edition of the “Chronicle” newspaper, which he alleged contained orders the Court did not make.

Mr Justice Apaloo, however, assured Counsel that having looked at the report, he did not see it as capable of prejudicing the outcome of the case even though he agreed with his concerns.

He said even though the report should be accurate “some of these things can be easily ignored”.

Mr Justice Apaloo cautioned that if such reports deliberately sought to twist matters before Court it would attract sanctions. “We all err but some errors are deliberate to give advantage to others”, he said.
