Juaso Hospital records 6,007 malaria cases in six months

The Juaso District Hospital received 6,007 cases of malaria during the first six months of the year, Mr. Osei Mintah, Administrator of the facility has announced.

He said, 79 of the patients were pregnant women and five of them lost their lives due to the disease.

Mr. Mintah was speaking at a mid-year performance review meeting of the Asante-Akim South District Directorate of Health Services at Juaso.

It provided the platform for the various health sub-districts to present their half-year reports, which would be put together into a comprehensive district report to be presented at the regional review meeting later this month.

Mr. Mintah said the hospital was implementing a number of projects to help improve the quality of services and make the facility more patient-friendly.

He said the Out-Patient Department, Dispensary and Records Departments had already been upgraded, in addition to the establishment of two theatres, eye and dental units.

Mr. Mintah said incentive packages were being provided to motivate the health professionals to give-off their best aside from training opportunities, to improve their competencies.**
