Juaso Catholic bags 62 million cedis at harvest

Juaso (Ash), Dec 8, GNA – Juaso Saint Andrews Catholic Church on Sunday realised 62 million cedis from its annual harvest.

The Reverend Father Owusu Mensah, the parish priest, said the church realised 29 million cedis at year’s harvest and that the money would be used to complete the church.

Dr Justice Gyamfi-Fenteng, the Asante-Akim South District Chief Executive (DCE), said the state and the church aim at achieving developmental goals and that ”politics cannot be divorced from religion.”

“The high achievement that you have made in the harvest will be used for the development of the church and I believe a percentage would be sent to your diocese to improve conditions in schools and the university that the church has initiated in the Brong-Ahafo region,” the DCE said.

Dr Gyamfi-Fenteng advised the people to preach peace and live in unity especially as the country entered an election year in 2004 adding ”the churches should pray unceasingly for deliverance so that there will not be any chaos.”

He said development in Juaso, the district capital, has stagnated because there was no peace in the town and called on the people to live in harmony.
