Juaben SHS cries for infrastructure expansion

Juaben (Ash), Nov 30, GNA – The Rev Isaac Osei Boadi, Headmaster of Juaben Senior High School, has appealed for expansion of the school’s infrastructure to meet the demands of the increasing student and staff population. For the past 38 years the school has not seen any significant improvement in terms of the development of physical structures. He said this had resulted in a situation where just 15 out of the 86 tutors have residential accommodation in the school, making it difficult to effectively supervise the large number of students. Rev Osei Boadi was speaking at the 38th anniversary celebration, which coincided with the third speech and prize-giving day of the school. He said there was an urgent need to build a library, staff bungalows, sick bay, spacious staff common room and to wall the school to check encroachment.

The headmaster suggested the setting up of an endowment fund to tackle the infrastructure deficit as well as provide support for promising but needy students. The Rev Osei Boadi said despite the challenges, the school’s academic performance had been excellent. For four years running it has scored 100% passes in the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Presently, two final year students, Master Kwaku Atta Pinkrah and Amos Oppong Danso have been selected for a Chinese scholarship to study medicine in China.

Mr Joseph Kwabena Onyinah, the Ashanti Regional Education Director, praised the school authorities for working hard under trying conditions to maintain an enviable academic record. Daasebre Otuo Siriboe II, Omanhene of Juaben Traditional Area, commended the old students of the school for their immense contribution towards the development of the school. 30 Nov 10
