JSS student drowns in Birim River

Akim Oda, April 2, GNA – Richard Agobaoni, 17, a JSS Three student of the Akim Oda St. Anthony JSS, was drowned in the Birim River at Akim Oda on Sunday.

The deceased was said to have accompanied his friends to swim in the river at about 1300 hours on that day.

The Akim Oda District Police Commander, Superintendent Ansu Amoabeng, told the Ghana News Agency that while swimming, the deceased’s friends realised that he was drowning and the ran to town and made a report to the police.

A search party managed to retrieve the body the following day and released to the family for burial after an autopsy.
