Joyce Aryee slams gov’t over ‘dumsor’

Executive Director of the Salt and Light Ministries, Rev. Dr Joyce Aryee, has chided government for not being truthful on the current energy crisis that has bedevilled the country for the last three years.

According to her, government is not telling Ghanaians the actual problems that are pushing the country to shed power.

The West African nation is currently shedding between 450 and 500 megawatts of power during peak and off peak time respectively.

The Power Minister, Dr. Kwabena Donkor, has promised that the energy crisis christened ‘dumsor’ would end by December this year or would resign.

Speaking on Starr Chat with host Bola Ray Wednesday on Starr 103.5FM the former Information Minister said government must be truthful with Ghanaians on the true state of the situation for its own survival.

“Don’t say it would end tomorrow, then tomorrow comes and it becomes three days and then…you know I don’t think it’s right, you cannot even plan with it.

“One of the things we are going through is that people are beginning to think that government is doing them a favour when the light comes on, you know and that is very very very bad… one thing that I think government can do for its own survival is to come straight with Ghanaians on [dumsor]”.
