Journalists to pay GH¢8.00 to EC

Journalists seeking to cover the limited registration exercise which commences on April 28 and ends May 8, 2016 will each be required to pay a fee of GH¢8 for accreditation.

The Electoral Commission (EC) which announced this on Friday at a training workshop for Journalists drawn from various media houses in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, indicated that the stated amount will cater for printing and processing of the accreditation cards.

Journalists were taken through Constitutional Instrument C.I 91 which spells out the qualification for registration and acceptable documents for registration that include passports, driver’s licence and National ID cards.

The workshop, aimed at courting media support ahead of the limited registration exercise which is expected to commence on April 28, 2016.

Journalists were entreated to be circumspect in their reportage during and after the elections.

They were also tasked to inform the public on policies of various political parties and their candidates.

‘Avoid declaring results, desist from giving the public false information,’ Journalists advised.

Ghanaians aged 18 years and above are eligible to participate in this exercise.
