Journalists covering Mills’ tour involved in accident

Issa (UW/R), July 11, GNA – Journalists covering a tour by Professor John Atta Mills, Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), of the Upper West Region on Friday escaped death with bruises when the Mercedes Benz Bus on which the were travelling was involved in an accident on the Fian-Wogu road in the Nadowli District.

The Journalists were Mr Chris Alalbila, Regional Correspondent of the GBC, Mr Amadu Abdu, Regional Manager of the Ghana News Agency, Mr Matthew Ayoo Regional Correspondent of the New Times Corporation, Mr William Mettle and Mr Osman Seidu, both of the Ghana Television.

According to Mr Addu, the driver of the bus “apparently” lost control at a soggy portion of the road, with the vehicle veering off course and skidding sideways off the road.

All the seven persons on board the bus had to exit through an opening of the shattered front windshield. The vehicle had its right side window glasses also broken.

Mr Ayoo was treated at the Kojokperi Health Centre of a cut on his right ear.

The five journalists later joined officials of the regional Electoral Commission to Issa.
