Kumasi, March 20, GNA – The management of Joshua Foundation a United States of America (USA) based NGO on Monday presented medical equipment and drugs worth 2.2 billion cedis to the management of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
They included ankle support, blood glucose monitors, walkers, bathtub safety rails, tablets of Aspirin, Amoxycillin oral suspension, cough syrup and drugs for eye treatment.
Mr Lorenzo Hodges, Founder and President of the Foundation, presenting the items said it was committed to upgrading and establishment of health centres in Africa.
He said Ghana was among four African countries to benefit from the support. The other countries are Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya. Mr Hodges announced that about 63 billion cedis had been allocated to improve health facilities in the country. He said KATH was chosen as a beneficiary because it was the second largest hospital in the country.
Dr Anthony Nsiah Asare, Chief Executive Officer of KATH, receiving the items expressed appreciation to the foundation for the gesture and pledged to use them judiciously to improve health care delivery. Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister, commended the foundation for the items.
