Jomoro Hospital to charge Ghc1 per visit

The Half-Assini Government Hospital in the Jomoro Distinct will soon charge GHc1.00 from its clients on each visit.

The Jomoro District Assembly approved the fees during its Ordinary Meeting at Half-Assini, over the weekend.

The decision follows a proposal by the Hospital authorities to raise funds to support its activities in view of its current financial constraints in order to ensure quality healthcare.

The proceeds from the levy would also help the hospital procure medical equipment and undertake expansion works at the health facility to befit its status as a district referral health centre.

The effective date for the implementation of the levy was however deferred to a later date in order for the Assembly to put mechanisms in place to ensure its efficiency and sustainability.

The Assembly also decided to convert the Bawia Community Centre, built by the Assembly, into a teachers’ bungalow and offices for the Tikobo Number Two Area Council.
