Jomoro District Sports Council inaugurated at Half Assini

Half Assini (W/R) March.19 GNA – Mr. Martin Yameke Ackah, District Chief Executive for Jomoro has said that since sports is now a lucrative business and could provide employment to talented youth, there is the need for pragmatic approaches to be made for its development.

The District Chief Executive who said this at the inauguration of the Jomoro District Sports Council at Half Assini therefore called on the members to endeavour to unearth new sports talents in the area. Mr Ackah also urged the members to come out with strategies to elevate Nzema United, the only second division team in the district to the first division.

He said the District Assembly would continue to provide the necessary support to the Council to enable it carry out its duties. Mr. Kofi Doudu Duku, Western Regional Sports Development Officer said the Regional Sports Council is prepared to assist in the development of all sporting clubs and sports disciplines in the Region. He urged the District Sports Council to assist to procurement of sporting equipment and facilities and to ensure that all sporting teams are brought under the umbrella of the Council.

Mr. Duku later presented sporting equipment valued at two point three million cedis to the District Sports Council on behalf of the Regional Sports Council.
