Jomoro Assembly adopts a medium term development plan

Half Assini (W/R), Aug. 31, GNA – The Jomoro District Assembly has adopted a working plan called the District Medium Term Development Plan, to guide the activities of the Assembly for the next two years. Some of the development issues highlighted in the 10-page document include the sensitization of parents on the importance of girl-child education and the construction of a big shed to accommodate artisans at Half Assini, the training of school dropouts and unemployed youth to help generate income and the formation of school management committee or parent teacher associations in all basic schools in the District.

The workshop was organised by Friends of the Nation, the Jomoro District Assembly and the Kumasi Institute of Technology, Environment and Energy.

Participants at the workshop include: Assembly Members, chiefs, Heads of Department, Civil Society groups and security Agencies. Mr Kofi Agbogah of Coastal Resource Centre at Takoradi, Mr Duodu Achempong, Jomoro District Planning Officer and Mr Johnson Kwesi from Friend of Nation, were the facilitators for the event.

They took the participants through several topics including the importance of girl-child education, formation of School Management Committees and unemployed youth in the District.

The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mr Ehwie Armah, who presided over the workshop, expressed his appreciation to the development partners of the Assembly for making the development plan possible.
