John Mahama Retains His Seat

Accra, Dec. 8, GNA – Mr John Mahama, the Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi, in the Northern Region, retained his seat, when he polled 10, 974 votes to beat his main challenger, Alhaji Sulemana Adams Achanso, of the NPP, who had 6, 675 votes.

Provisional results gathered from 67 polling stations in the Bole-Bamboi constituency gave a general figure of PNC 320 votes, NPP 5,988, NDC 11,024, CPP 281 votes in the presidential elections.

In the parliamentary the PNC polled 322, NPP 6,675, and NDC 10,974. There were a total of 1,681 rejected ballot papers.

An elated Mahama early this morning commended the electorate for their massive support that ensured his total victory and enabled him to retain the seat.

He expressed concern about the high number of rejected ballot papers and attributed it to the delay by political parties to educate their followers on the electoral process.
