JHS student drowns at Agona Swedru

A-15-year old form two student of the Agona Swedru Methodist Junior High School (JHS) Master Theophilus Ghartey got drowned in River Akora when he was swimming in it on Friday.

A source close to the Agona Swedru District Police Command, told the Press that Master Theophilus Ghartey, got drown when he and his friends, on that fateful day, went to River Akora to swim after school hours.

The Police Source said parents of the deceased reported the matter, and a search party, including members of Asafo Company of the Swedruman Council of Chiefs, was immediately constituted and dispatched to go and search for the body.

The source said the body was seen the following day, at about 1400 hours, and it has since been handed over to the family for burial.

According to the source, the District Police Command does not suspect any foul play about the incident, and advised school children in the area to suspend all swimming activities in the river, now that it has become full due to continuous heavy rains at its northern part.
