JHS graduates advised not to sit idle

Mpraeso, April 25, GNA – Mr Seth Kwame Acheapong, Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, has advised Junior High School (JHS) students, who just completed their Basic School Certificate Examination (BECE), not to sit idle at home but rather continued to study. He said they should not abandon their books but rather continued to study especially reading of novels to improve upon their English language before entering the second cycle schools. The MP also advised them to avoid immoral activities and assist their parents in their businesses to enable them (parents) raise adequate funds to further their education.

These were contained in an address read on his behalf by the Mpraeso District Director of Education, Mr Abraham Adjetey Sowa, when he presented a assorted soft drinks and pastries to 1,300 candidates who wrote the BECE in the constituency.

He promised to sponsor needy but brilliant children, who would gain admission into the second cycle schools. Mr Acheampong said since children played a significant role in nations’ development, greater part of the constituency’s development fund would be devoted to improvement in education. Mrs Olivia Opare, Science Technology and Mathematics Education Co-ordinator in the district, said ten registered candidates could not write their examination in the district due to death, illness and pregnancy.

She also advised the students to work hard to further their education. The Assistant Headmaster of Mpraeso Senior High School, Mr Seth Amoako, thanked the MP for his concern, assistance and support for the improvement of education in the constituency. He appealed for improvement in infrastructural facilities and logistics for schools in the area.
