JH Mensah Awards Himself Contract

The Majority Leader in Parliament, J.H. Mensah has reportedly awarded the contract for the renovation of his official residence to himself. The contract is worth 402 million Cedis. JOYFM futher discovered that the paving of a summer hut in the house cost 53 million Cedis whilst landscaping is also estimated at 32 million Cedis. However when JOYFM contacted the Leader of Government Business, he denied that he had awarded the contract to himself.

He explained that the Public Works Department (PWD) carried out the renovation works but later realised that the work was not properly executed. He therefore asked that the work be done again, but this time not by the PWD.

Mr Mensah said he begun using his own money to do the renovation works and at a point employed the services of some prisoners to weed around the house. He run out of funds and directed that the rest of the renovation be officially carried out through the Ministry of Finance, which released the money for the earlier work done by the PWD. He could however not confirm or deny whether the renovation works is worth 402 million Cedis.
