Jet ski used by Castro also ‘missing’

Marine police officers searching for hiplife artiste Castro De Destroyer, known in private life as Theophilus Tagoe, are accusing management of Aqua Safari Resort of giving conflicting account of the exact jet ski the musician hired prior to his disappearance.

The head of the Marine Unit, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Forster Kotoku, said though management of the resort is sure Castro used a blue jet ski, which was found floating on the Volta Lake on Sunday, the exact one cannot be identified.

“Two blue jet skis were in contention,” ASP Kotoku told TV3’s Daniel Lartey on Tuesday, July 8. “The management themselves were giving a conflicting information of the jet ski that was found at the scene.”

He indicated, however, that the two blue jet skis owned by Aqua Safari have been taken custody of by officers.

“We have to take them to Big Ada Police who are handling the case for further investigation and to know actually which of them was involved in the accident.”

He was hopeful the search team – made up of local canoe operators and fisherfolk, the Ghana Air Force and the marine police – will unravel the mystery surrounding the missing bodies.

Meanwhile, the District Security Council of Ada East District has met the management of Aqua Safari to re-establish the areas and timelines for the search.

“As at now, we are trying to gather our facts as the rescue team are still doing their work and the investigators are also doing their work,” said John Nurudeen Ahortu, the District Chief Executive (DCE).

“At the end of the day, we bring every information and report and we take it from there.”

Mr Ahortu hinted that search will continue until the bodies of the musician and Janet Bandu, his girlfriend, are found. The two have gone missing since Sunday with deep fears that they might have drowned on the Lake.
