Jesus Christ uses symbols of witness to demonstrate his power

Accra, April 10, GNA – Jesus Christ in his redemptive work used symbols of witness to demonstrate his power which was contrary to the practice at the time. Delivering the sermon at Ghana Police Church, Licensing Office, Most Reverend Dr Robert. K. Aboagye Mensah, Presiding Bishop of Methodist Church of Ghana, said Jesus Christ was described as the Lamb of God by John the Baptist.

He said Jesus Christ rode on a donkey instead of a horse which was used by great warriors of the time adding that he washed the feet of his disciples a job normally performed by servants. Most Reverend Aboagye Mensah, preaching on the theme;” Jesus shows humility and love” said Jesus who had power to summon legion of angels to his assistance allowed himself to be nailed to the cross in order to save humanity. He said it took much more power to restrain oneself after being slapped than to retaliate.

Most Reverend Aboagye Mensah urged Christians to emulate Jesus Christ by allowing the Holy Spirit to dwell in them and direct their actions. The church service formed part of activities to usher in the Easter celebrations.
