Jerry Rawlings hits 70 with grace and style

Founder of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry Rawlings turns 70 today Wednesday, June 22.

As part of events to mark his birthday, the former president has outlined several programs geared towards the safeguarding of Ghana’s climate and environment on the whole.

The conference, which will take place at the auditorium of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, is expected to be open to the general public.

Jerry Rawlings has been on the fore front of justice and accountability since opening up for democratic rule in 1992 – a development which saw the birth of the 1992 constitution.

But following the failure of his party to win the 2016 elections, the former president has hit hard against top executives of the party blaming them for being corrupt and also abusing the power of incumbency.

So far, it remains unsure if Rawlings will be taking over the affairs of the party but YEN.com.gh is gathering that he may have a say in who leads the party ahead of the 2020 elections.
