Jefferson Sackey explains Ghana@60 logo designs

The Head of the media Sub Committee of the Ghana 60 years on Anniversary Celebration, Jefferson Sackey, has explained the choice of the logo purported to have been plagiarised by the committee.

Unibank is the only Corporate body that has made a contribution of GHC300,000.00 towards the Ghana 60 Years On Celebration.

According to him, various designs were undertaken before they settled on it.

Briefing journalists at the first media briefing of the Anniversary Committee, Mr. Sackey said the logo which was designed by a Masters student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Emmanuel Addo, best resonates with the theme of the celebration “Mobilising for Ghana’s Future”.

The committee has come under heavy criticisms over the logo after it was unveiled by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo last week.

The logo appears to have incorporated the IFCD logo which denotes three individuals in an embrace.

EIB’s Wilberforce Asare reported that the three individuals in the Ghana logo are coloured in red, gold and green while the IFCD logo is in orange, green and black.

According to Mr Sackey, the choice was inspired by two ‘Adinkra’ symbols called “Tikoro nko agyina” and “Mate Masie”.
