Jeep car in alleged ‘seized weapons’ saga not Nigerian registered – High Commission

The Nigerian High Commission in Ghana has reacted to claims that a jeep vehicle with a Nigerian licencing plate was involved in the alleged ‘seizure of weapons’ in Kumasi last week.

At a news conference last Friday, the New Patriotic Party alleged the military in Kumasi has impounded a cache of weapons from a National Democratic Congress man in Kumasi.

The party claimed the weapons were found in a jeep bearing a Nigerian registration number 465-13D.

But a statement issued by the High Commission Monday said, “we wish to inform that the mentioned Nigerian plate number does not reflect the numbering pattern of vehicle registration system in Nigeria”.
