A misunderstanding between a 40-year old farmer and his spouse over suspicion of extramarital affairs has led to the death of the latter with attempts by the man to commit suicide through poisoning.
Yaw Boakye is reported to have butchered his wife only identified as Asana accusing her of engaging in amorous sexual relationship with an unnamed man.
The Assembly member for Nkrumah Krom in the Sefwi Bodi District of the Western Region John Ayimbila, confirmed revealed the incident on Koforidua-based Bryte FM.
According to him, the suspect invited the victim who was seeking refuge at a nearby village to come and pack her belongings since he was no longer interested in the marriage.
“Yaw Boakye locked her up in a room when she (Asana) returned to the house for her belongings started visiting cutlass wounds on her”, he revealed
The victim who was screaming for help, attracted neighbors but before they arrived, the lifeless naked body of Asana was left in a pool of blood in a rice farm.
Boakye was later found unconscious after taking some liquid substance suspected to poison but was rushed to Sefwi Juaboso government hospital receiving treatment.
The police investigations have commenced investigations into the matter.
