JB’s ‘murderer’ being kept in chains – Lawyer

The self-confessed murderer of the Abuakwa North Member of Parliament Joseph Boakye Danqua has been put in chains at the BNI cells, where he is being kept, his lawyer has claimed.

According to Augustine Obour, his client, Daniel Asiedu, is being denied his basic human rights such as access to the washroom.

However, lead state prosecutor Francis Baah has denied the allegations, saying all the security agencies are doing is to keep him safe for the trial.

Asiedu has been charged with murder. He is facing trial at the High court.

Background

According to a police charge sheet, on February 9, 2016 at about 1 a.m. at Shiashie, East Legon in Accra, Asiedu did intentionally and unlawfully caused the death of Mr Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu MP for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region.

The police presented brief facts of the case in court in which the accused was said to have entered the MP’s house to steal and not to kill.
