Wli-Afegame, Sept 8, GNA – Mrs Kazuko Asai, Japanese Ambassador in Ghana, last Saturday inaugurated a 92- million cedi classroom block with office and a storeroom at Wli-Afegame in the Hohoe District. The new classroom block for the Wli Central Junior Secondary School (JSS) will replace the former building that was destroyed by a rainstorm two years ago.
The Japanese government financed the project through the Rural Community Agricultural Integrated Project (RCAIP), an NGO based in Hohoe.
Mrs Asai said Japan gave out the 92 million cedis for the project because it realises the importance of education in national development. She advised the people to cultivate the spirit of maintenance to enable their children to benefit from the project.
The Ambassador called on the people in the area, where the highest waterfall in West Africa is located, to conserve their natural resources.
She suggested the inclusion of conservation of the natural environment in the educational programmes for school children. Mr James Komla Dogbe, the Hohoe District Chief Executive, commended the Japanese government for its assistance to communities in the district.
He expressed regret about the activities of smugglers in the community and advised the people to stop smuggling cocoa and other products to Togo.
