Jake jabs Gbevlo Lartey: You can’t investigate Boateng Gyan

The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, has vehemently protested the decision by the National Security to institute full-scale investigations into comments attributed to Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan on a leaked secret tape.

According to the NPP chair, the national security outfit must immediately recuse itself from the case since he has also been mentioned in the leaked tape.

Rather, Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey believes the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service would be the appropriate agency to delve into the matter.

He said this on an Accra based radio station on Thursday, after the NDC national organizer had come public to admit that the voice on the leaked tape was his.

Mr. Boateng Gyan was heard loudly on the tape allegedly plotting with some thugs to distract the impending general elections in December.

The National Security Coordinator, Col. Gbevlo Lartey, had told some private radio stations in Accra that his outfit was taking steps to investigate the national organizer.

“The police must start taking some steps to ensure that the comments of Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan are thoroughly investigated,” he added.
