Jake cautions Afoko: Be patient and tolerant

Defeated New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, has advised the newly elected National Chairman, Paul Afoko, to be tolerant and patient when carrying out his duties.

He, however, admonished him to limit the level of tolerance since over tolerance could impede his plans and vision.

“One of the criticisms against me was that I was too tolerant of views that were being improperly expressed, and that I should have cracked the whip a little bit more than I did,” he said.

Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey also asked party supporters to rally behind the newly elected executives for victory in 2016.

Mr. Obetsebi Lamptey and most of his executives lost their re-election bid when delegates unanimously voted for Paul Afoko and other contenders to lead a new set of executives at the party’s conference on Saturday April 12.

The only survivor in the Jake Obetsebi Lamptey-led administration, Otiko Afisa Djaba faced very stiff opposition to suggest delegates were not satisfied with their performance.

“I’ve always believed that NPP delegates choose wisely. If they had voted for me like they did last time, I would have said that they chose wisely,” Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey said.
