Tamale, May 22, GNA -The Right Rev. Joseph Atto Brown, Bishop of the Northern Ghana Diocese of the Methodist Church, has reiterated the need for President John Agyekum Kufuor and former President Jerry John Rawlings to settle their differences in the supreme interest of the State.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in an interview, during the 10th annual General Conference of the Northern Ghana Diocesan Association of the Methodist Men’s Fellowship in Tamale, Rt. Rev. Brown said people who spearhead such reconciliation efforts should be circumspective in order not to create a further rift amongst the two leading personalities.
He said both President Kufuor and Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings should admit their mistakes and chart the course for national progress. The conference was on the theme: “The Whole Church In Northern Ghana Takes The Gospel To The Whole World- The Role Of The Men’s Fellowship”.
Rt. Rev. Brown noted that the numerous conflicts in the North should be a wake up call to Christians that all was not well and strive to exhibit the traits of Christ to ensure lasting peace prevails not only in the area, but the whole country.
He stressed: “The Christian community should exercise genuine compassion towards souls that are perishing”.
Brother Sampson Akurugu, the lay chairman of the Diocese advised members of the Fellowship to work very hard to win more souls for Christ.
