JAK has a hand in Tsatsu’s incarcearation – Lithur

A private legal practitioner Tony Lithur says President Kufour has a hand in the incarceration of former boss of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata.

He said the executive, under President Kufour has vested interest in the protracted legal battle against Tsatsu Tsikata and had influenced the judiciary in its proceedings.

He referred to the empanelling of two Supreme Court judges in the famous fast track case which reversed an earlier ruling.

The Supreme Court had earlier ruled in favour of Tsatsu Tsikata, that the fast track court was unconstitutional, but the then Attorney General Nana Akufo Addo described the decision as perverse, and applied for a review.

This necessitated the addition of two Supreme Court judges, something Mr. Lithur claim was unacceptable and amounted to interfering with the judiciary.

Mr. Lithur who is also a member of the Free Tsatsu Movement alluded to the presence of the police force on the day of Mr. Tsikata’s judgment, asking how did the police know judgment would be passed on the said day.

Mr Lithur could not be more categorical in his accusation: “The President himself has shown his hand in this case.”

The stinging accusations were made when the members of the Free Tsatsu Movement visited the offices of the National Democratic Congress to galvanise support of the party to free the jailed GNPC boss.
