Jailed for Stealing Maggi Cubes

A Sekondi community tribunal on Thursday sentenced Kwadwo Kumi, a 22-year old welder’s apprentice to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing two packets of Maggi cubes valued at 36,000 cedis.

He pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting Police Sergeant Andam Okyere told the tribunal that the complainant is the security man of All Needs Supermarket in Takoradi.

He said on October 23 the accused entered the shop, stole two packets of Maggi cubes and hid them under his armpit.

Sgt. Okyere said when Kumi got to the cashier he did not pay for the cubes and as he attempted to leave he was confronted and the cubes were found on him.
