Jailed 23 years for defilement

Tarkwa, (W/R) Dec. 6, GNA – A Tarkwa Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. John Ajet-Nasam on Wednesday sentenced a 28-year-old Seth Klisman to 23 years imprisonment for defiling a 14-year old girl. He was sentenced on his plea.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Joseph Yaw Apaloo of Tarkwa Police said Klisman, a crane operator was lodging at American Hotel at Bogoso. He said on December 1, 2005, at about 11:30 pm, the accused called the victim and gave her five hundred cedis (500.00 cedis) to buy him the (accused) iced water.

On her arrival, the accused told the victim to send the water to his room.

He then followed the girl into the room and forcibly had sex with her after which he detained the victim till the following day, not even when the victim requested to go and sleep with her mother. Chief Inspector Apaloo said the victim went and informed her mother who in turn reported the case to the police and Klisman was arrested.
