Jailed 10 years for stealing car battery.

Sekondi, April 7, GNA – A Sekondi Circuit Court on Wednesday sentenced two people to a total of 10 years imprisonment for stealing. They pleaded guilty with explanation but the court rejected their explanation.

They are Tijani Mohammed, a 30-year old farmer and Fusseini Sadique, 21, unemployed.

Prosecuting Police Inspector Isaac Cosmos told the court that on March 11 this year, the accused went to Kojokrom near Sekondi and stole two heavy-duty car batteries from a tractor engaged by the Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly (SAEMA), to perform some duties.

He said the convicts again broke into an electrical store belonging to one Daniel Azu and stole electrical cables and appliances valued at 10 point four million cedis.

Inspector Cosmos said they kept the batteries for some time but when they sent it to an electrician at Fijai for sale, he alerted the Police, who arrested them.
