Jacobu residents urged to support assembly

Jacobu (Ash), June 9, GNA – Mr Kwame Anning, Chairman of the Works Sub-Committee of the Amansie Central District Assembly, has called on citizens and residents of the district to support the programmes of the assembly to facilitate the development of the new district. Mr Anning, who is the assemblyman for Jacobu-Tunsuom, noted that the assembly had plans for the development of the district and that what is left is for the people to support the assembly in carrying out its programmes.

Speaking to newsmen at Jacobu, he said currently, the assembly had budgeted for the construction of a new school block for the Jacobu SDA Junior Secondary School, while the Jacobu Local Authority Primary School was to be converted into a model school with a library and other facilities attached.

Mr Anning added that the Tunsuom Electoral Area was also under the development plan of the assembly. “I want to appeal to the people of the Tunsuom Electoral Area to stand solidly behind the assemblyman, since the assembly has development plans for the area”, he said. The chairman said already the assembly had spent over 150 million cedis to renovate three toilet facilities in the area. Mr Anning said all the people, especially the people of Jacobu, being the headquarters, should appreciate the creation of the new district by the government. “Once Jacobu is the district capital, no development will elude them”, he said.

He said under the government youth employment policy, the assembly was going to offer training to the youth in the area in agriculture and education. He appealed to the people to embrace all government policies for the betterment of the nation. 9 June 06
