Ivorian Premier briefs Kufuor on Ivorian crisis

Accra, May 18, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Wednesday appealed to the parties involved in the Ivorian crisis to stay on course in their deliberations for peace and stability to return to Cote d’Ivoire.

He said: ” I am delighted that the parties involved in the Ivorian crisis are now moving together to bring peace and stability to their country. They should stay on course for a peaceful and stable country.”

President Kufuor made the appeal when the Ivorian Premier Mr Seydou Elimane Diarra paid a courtesy call on him at the Castle, Osu to brief him on the progress made in finding solution to the Ivorian crisis. Mr Diarra said through the initiative and good counselling of President Kufuor the foundation for the peace process in Cote d’Ivoire was laid and had since been on course and peace would return to the country soon.

He said the Pretoria Agreement was an update of the Accra III Accord that had been the basis for solution to the Ivorian crisis, therefore ” there is the need to keep President Kufuor well informed on the progress so far made towards peace and stability in Cote d’Ivoire.”
