I’ve Never Said Anything Bad Against Rawlings- Mills

President John Evans Atta Mills has stated that he is waiting for an opportunity to sit down with former president and NDC founder Jerry John Rawlings to iron out their differences. He said he believes that in unity lies strength and therefore appealed to all NDC members to put their differences aside and unite.

He was speaking in an encounter with press men at the seat of government in the Osu castle, Accra today. In an answer to a question as to whether or not the relationship between him and the NDC founder has improved, the president said ‘my relationship with the founder has not changed and nobody here can say that I have ever said anything bad against President Rawlings but we cannot all think alike and I’m looking for the opportunity, when ever it comes, to sit down with the former president and sort out what ever differences there are and resolve them amicably between us’.

President Mills also appealed to all members of the NDC to put aside their differences and come together as one family since unity is the only way forward. President Mills appealed for decorous language from everybody on the airwaves including his ministers and appointees. He said ‘there will always be challenges and disagreements but without a united front, the NDC will not succeed’. He therefore called for a coming together of all factions in the NDC to come together for the sake of the party.

Conspicuously missing in the strictly controlled and seemingly censored question and answer session at the castle with the president was the issue of ‘house cleaning’ within the NDC as called for by the NDC founder recently- an exercise that many people speculate will come in a form of a much anticipated cabinet reshuffle- a subject which also never came up.
