Flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kofi Osei-Ameyaw has made a passionate appeal to delegates to reward people who have invested in the party by voting for them.
According to him, voting for such people would encourage others to also invest in the party, thereby helping to strengthen the NPP.
Speaking to The Finder ahead oftheAugust 31 Special Delegates’ Congress, Osei-Ameyaw said failure to vote for people who invest in building structures of the party would discourage others from investing in the NPP.
He said his contribution to the party is not in doubt, adding that he contributed significantly to the party’s recent conference in Tamale.
Mr Osei-Ameyaw, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asuogyaman Constituency in the Eastern Region, is confident he would be part of the five to be shortlisted at the end of this month to contest the party’s presidential primaries on October 18, 2014.
According to him, he has legislative, executive and diplomatic experience to win power for the NPP in the 2016 general elections.
Citing his experience as a former Minister of State and MP to buttress his point, Mr Osei-Ameyaw said he has the management skills to lead a vibrant party like the NPP.
He said as a man who lost both parents early in life, his ability to come this far clearly demonstrates that he has gathered enough experience to manage and develop the human resource of the country for accelerated development.
On the Special Delegates’ Congress slated for Sunday, August 31, 2014, he suggested to the party to allow each delegate to shortlist five candidates.
Osei-Ameyaw explained that when this is done, the results will be a true reflection of the most popular candidates.
He said he has a vision to unite all Ghanaians and position the country on a path of a well-developed and sustainable one where everyone sees the other as a neighbour.
The MP said his experience as a humble beginner puts him in a good position to elevate the poor to the middle-income status the country has gained.
Osei-Ameyaw was born on February 20, 1960. He is a lawyer by profession. He first entered Parliament on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party in 2004 as a representative of the Asuogyaman Constituency.
He lost the seat in the 2008 general elections but regained it in the 2012 elections, making him one of the few MPs to chalk this feat.
