It?s Aliu Again!

?As NPP goes to congress to endorse Veep

It?s Aliu Mahama again as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) goes to Kumasi this weekend to endorse the party?s flagbearer and his running mate Vice President Aliu Mahama for the December elections.

Contrary to the wishes and campaign of some members of the party to have Aliu dropped from the slot, insiders say the winning team of the last elections would be maintained at the annual delegates? conference scheduled for this Friday, September 17, to Sunday, September 19, 2004, at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.

The three-day conference would be attended by 1400 delegates made up of members of the National Council, five delegates from each constituency, all sitting MPs and one representative from each accredited overseas branch of the party.

The party?s National Chairman, Mr Harona Esseku, told journalists at the weekend that the conference would be devoted to assessing the strength and weaknesses of the party and designing strategies to retain power at the December polls.

Speakers at the conference would include Esseku himself, President Kufuor, Vice President Mahama, NPP General Secretary Dan Botwe and select group of ministers of state who would talk about the achievements and policies of government.

The party is expected to climax the event with a massive rally at Jackson Park.
