Nkrankwanta (B/A) Feb. 6, GNA – The Nkrankwanta Health Centre in the Dormaa Municipality has received materials valued at 55,000 Euros from three Italian non-governmental organisations. The benefactors are Sanitate Ad Humanitatem, Ingeneria Senza Frontier Onios and Associazione Africa Liberia.
The items comprised an ambulance, a diesel generator, three computers, five boxes of used clothing and a quantity of learning materials for school children. Rapport between the NGOs and the Nkrankwanta community was facilitated by Stephen Ameyaw, an Italian based Nkrankwanta citizen. Presenting the items during their fourth visit to the town, a spokesman for the NGOs, Mr. Nalaguti Marino, lauded the facilitator’s humanitarian spirit and urged people in the area to draw on his patriotism.
Mr. Marino announced that his group had also brought down a set of carpentry tools to train the youth who might wish to go into carpentry. In a speech read for him, Mr. Stephen Ameyaw, urged his people not to allow their ranks to be divided by partisan politics but rather unite to ensure the speedy growth of the area. He appealed to Nkrankwanta citizens at home and abroad to take keen interest in issues affecting the growth and prosperity of their hometown. Mr. Ameyaw gave the assurance that the three NGOs would work out more packages, particularly in the health improvement sector to promote good health for the people. He explained that the NGOs had adopted the health sector because they were convinced that all development was dependent on a healthy people. Receiving the items, the Dormaa Municipal Health Director, Madam Florence Iddrisah, commended the communal spirit of Stephen Ameyaw and thanked the NGOs for removing a key hurdle off the shoulders of the centre.
She described the arrival of the ambulance as timely and important considering the distance between the health centre and the nearest hospital at Dormaa-Ahenkro. Madam Iddrisah called on staff of the centre to submit the ambulance and the other items to the culture of maintenance so as to derive maximum benefits from them. The Adumhene of Dormaa Traditional area, Baffour Twumasi Asare, who chaired the function on behalf of the Dormaahene, expressed gratitude to the NGOs and asked the health centre to reciprocate the gesture by handling the items with utmost care. 06 Feb. 09
