Mrs Laura Carpini, Italian Ambassador has commended Ghana as one of the African countries regarded as the beacon of democracy.
She said the country has huge potential business opportunities hence the need for the deepening of bilateral relations.
Mrs Carpini gave the commendation on Tuesday when she paid a courtesy call on Mrs Marieta Brew Appiah Oppong, Minister of Justice and Attorney General in Accra.
She expressed her willingness to work closely with the Ghanaian government, especially on constitutional matters.
The Ambassador lauded the co-operation between Italy and Ghana which had resulted in cordial relations and other mutual benefits.
She expressed the hope that her country would continue to partner Ghana for the development and wellbeing of the citizenry.
Mr Frederic Clavier, French Ambassador who also paid a courtesy call on the sector, said France would continue to strengthened cooperation with Ghana in developing strategic reforms in the Justice System for the benefit of the two countries.
Mrs Oppong said some of the Ministry’s role is to ensure adherence to the rule of law and a constant observance of human rights.
The Ministry ensures equality of access to justice and treatment before the law for all citizens, promotion of social justice to facilitate the operations of a fair, efficient and transparent legal system and to propagate a culture of due process and legality.
She noted that the Ministry comprises departments such as the prosecution unit, civil division and the legislative units formulate policies and carry out monitoring and evaluation for the fair and efficient operation of the legal system.
Mrs Oppong said the Ministry needs capacity building in all the departments to improve on its online research and networking for development.
