It will be politically suicidal, dangerous to reinstate Kwabena Agyapong – Boahen

Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), lawyer Obiri Boahen has asserted that, the reinstatement of suspended General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong will do the elephant family more harm than good.

Some party supporters of the NPP have called for the reinstatement of the embattled party officer because he has behaved himself well.

Speaking in an interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the maverick politician said, ”he does not think the reinstatement of Kwabena Agyapong is a number one priority of the NPP. Let us be honest. I am speaking for myself but I can tell you that my position maybe the position of National Executive Committee and National Executive Council.’’

Mr. Boahen said those threatening the party with the reinstatement should desist from doing so since it will not yield any fruit.

He said, the focus of some people is to move the party forward, find solutions to the challenges of government and so the reinstatement of Kwabena Agyapong is not a number one priority.

Some party members lost their lives and so if you were the person who lost a family member, will you call for reinstatement? Lawyer Boahen stressed that, ‘’if you want to seek my candid opinion, it will be dangerous and suicidal for the party to reinstate him [Kwabena Agyapong]. I repeat, it will be dangerous and politically suicidal for the party to do that. It will be dangerous and suicidal for the party to take that line of action. This is my personal point of view. It will be dangerous. We should stop this. People should stop it because it is a delicate issue and not simple as people suggest. The party must tread cautiously. It is not so simple, he repeated.
