It doesn’t matter if Jesus Christ was born on Dec 25 or Oct 31 – Otabil

General overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, has argued that Christmas is all about the celebration of Christ’s birth and that the debate on when he was born is unfounded.

Speaking to congregants during the Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh show at IGCG Christ Temple in Accra, Mensa Otabil argues that the purpose of Christmas is never about the date of Christ’s birth but rather the purpose of his birth.

The precise reason why Christmas came to be celebrated on December 25 remains obscure, but most researchers believe that Christmas originated as a Christian substitute for pagan celebrations of the winter solstice.
